Quotations from G.I. Gurdjieff’s Teaching -

A Personal Companion

M. W. Thring

M. W. (Meredith “Med” Woodbridge) Thring was an inventor, mechanical and chemical engineer, author, professor, and futurist. He held a combined total of 30 patents in the U. S. and Great Britain and wrote 18 books. Thring studied with P.D. Ouspensky and John Bennett for 11 years in London, and, in his own words, “had the unforgettable experience of sitting opposite Mr. Gurdjieff at a number of meals in 1948-49.”

The book began as a personal index until someone suggested it might be useful to others and so it was expanded and published as an homage to Mr. Gurdjieff.

Organized in as meticulous a manner as one would expect from a man of Thring’s vocation, Gurdjieff’s words are arranged by topic and attributed by page number to their source, most often
“All and Everything” or “In Search of the Miraculous.” At the end of the book are three appendices: The Trogoautoegocratic Process, The Fifth Dimension - The Bridge Between Science and Religion, and Widening Our Framework of Thought, in which the author himself ponders the topics and provides additional material from scientific sources outside of the Gurdjieff literature. There are several pages left blank for personal notes.
