Dr. Michel de Salzmann (1923-2001) was a direct pupil of G. I. Gurdjieff and played a very active role in the transmission of a teaching that guides one to awaken in the midst of everyday life.  He guided the Gurdjieff Work worldwide from 1990-2001.

Here are notes, translated from the French, including questions and answers, taken from the journals of two of Michel de Salzmann’s students present with him at group meetings in Switzerland (1983-2000). Jean-Pierre Marville writes in his Foreword, “These words have the power to awaken in us a new and authentic understanding, … to call us to the essential, that is to say quite simply to be in the moment.”

“To see, to know, to wish, and to love come from a free attention,” says Michel de Salzmann. “I am coming out of a state of belief and prejudice. I become aware. Perception of a very fine energy vitalizes the body. It is a state of greater sensitivity in which a focus emerges allowing the blazing up of another consciousness.

"Once the body is imbued with this energy, a real feeling becomes possible...The true nature of feeling...is a moment of fusion with what is.  It is participation in a flow of love flowing out from everywhere."
